I took Kai to the Tanfield Railway today, its only about 15min drive from my house but I didn’t know it even existed until last weekend. They run two steam trains on sundays, one pulling (from what I could tell) empty trucks and the other pulling coaches which you can go for a short ride in along side the funny mixture of train spotters, families and tabacco-stained beardy men…

Kai really enjoied himself, lots of grins and shouts of ‘Thomas!’ although I think he was a little disappointed the train didn’t *actually* have a face.

There was a brass band playing in one of the sheds, which they’ve got done out like a mini exhibition hall (more beardies) but Kai was obviously feeling the need to get his grove on!

    Very cute,

That’s up my neck of the woods, about 5 mins from me (in Tantobie). There is a really nice put near there, the Causey Arch Inn. Its Child friendly as well, we take Jacob there quite a lot.

    Aw cool!

The Tamford Railway is just down the road from my girlfriend but I’ve never found the time to go… Might have to change that cause I have fond memories of the steam train at Beamish.. Happy times!
