June 2006

yes yes, I know Robbie Williams has that tattooed on him somewhere, but this has NOTHING to do with him.

I took my CBT test on Saturday, which is kind of the equivalent of getting a provisional drivers licence, only for a motorbike. It was a birthday present from Kir, and something I’d only mentioned I wanted to do a couple of times so it was a big, and brilliant surprise.

He’s here!

Little Kai was actually born on Saturday morning, but understandably updating my website wasn’t high on the priorities list. Kir went into labor at around 1am, waking me an hour and a half later when she was sure it wasnt just Bracston hicks. We arrived at the QE in Gateshead at about 5am and went straight into the delivery suite, things were starting to get painful for Kir now but she was a real trooper, I didn’t get shouted at once!

Kai finally popped into the world at 8.43 on 10/6/06 weighing in at a slightly light 5lbs 8oz, no real problems to speak of and, if i do say so myself, cute as a button.

Hes been doing well ever since, although eating, sleeping and pooping don’t take too much skill he manages each effortlessly and is becoming quite talented at soaking everyone within a 3ft radius of his business end during nappy changes. I may yet adopt a system of goggles and a mouth guard.

Suffice to say both Kai and Kir are doing great, we’re exceptionally proud parents.

now - to the photos!!

Prepare to be inundated with posts in the ‘baby stuff’ section. No, mini-me hasn’t arrived yet, but its getting so close to the due date now I can almost smell the gas and air already. ‘it‘ (as the baby will be referred to un til ‘it‘ is born, owing to the fact that my parents dont want to know what ‘it‘ is and may read the website - HI MUM!) is due on the 12th of this month, which is now only two and a half days away… and everyone said ‘it‘ would be early.

I can’t wait to be quite honest, ‘it‘ was a total suprise and it took some time for both me and Kir to get used to the idea of a little us running about (I’m sure most of Kirs worries were related to my ear size being hereditary) but we’re both so excited about the whole thing now.

So everything’s prepared, the Moses basket is waiting (complete with teddies), the pram’s built and I’ve got a clothes peg at the ready for nappy-time, all we need is our star who’ll arrive in 12 days maximum.

Cute baby photos pending.

I’ve just finished doing a bit of jiggery-pokery with the setup of the website so that there’s now ’special’ sections for the things I write about most, admittedly there’s only 4 sections, and one of them is ‘general‘ which pretty much covers everything other than ‘baby stuff’ and ‘photography‘ (the other 2 categories). Then of course there’s ‘site news‘ which is where this post will be filed. See, I’m all organised. I’m off to sort out my sock draw, by colour, size and thermal insulation.

oh, but before I do, a few weeks ago I added Google Adsense to the site (over on the right if you scroll down a bit) which so far has earned me a staggering amount of cash - $0.18! Every click earns me money, which is great if people actually click on them… this time next year Rodney
