I went on a daytrip up to Whitby with Andrew today for a long overdue photography outing, its been too cold over the last few months and I’ve been lacking inspiration. Whitby isnt the ideal place for my personal subject preferance, although I still got some nice shots. I’ve added one to the ‘Photography‘ gallery since it didnt need much tweeking to get it looking nice. Reminds me of the cover of a stone roses album a little.

I’m still not happy with the colours, my camera over-blues things generally and the gravestone itself looked like it was made from sandstone, so its fairly yellow rather than the stone grey you’d expect it to be.
I’ll add more photos when I’ve finished faffing!

Cool, only thing I’d suggest is straightening it up a little (so that the main edge of the statue was completely vertical).
If you want to try something a little different, set it to black and white (in photoshop play about with channels; sometimes red or green is more interesting than just desaturating the image). After that, put a slight colour tint on it of red, around 5-15. Make sure its light enough so you can’t see its actually red! What this does, is keeps the image looking b&w, but gives a greater feeling of depth!

Good tip, I’d played with desaturating it and adjusting the brightness/contrast but nothing I did seemed to work right, it all looked a bit ‘flat’.
I’m still not happy with the colours, maybe its to do with my site being green but when I’ve looked today the image looks way off what it should be :/
I’ll be using this (http://www.layersmagazine.com/photography/color_correcting.php) tutorial tonight if i get the chance to try and get it right, then I may well try a B&W version using your method.
