Steps to a high level

Steps to a high level

I found myself with a rare ‘free’ night last month and, as the weather was superb, I decided to take myself out for a wander with a couple of cameras tucked under my arm.  I was bought a classic Kodak box brownie for Christmas and hadn’t yet had the chance to try it out, so I loaded it up with some film (120 re-spooled on to a 620 reel, detail fans!) and headed out.

I hit Newcastle at just the right time and tried to make the most of the golden hour.  I got a few nice images out of what ended up being a 3 hour wander, but I think this is the one I like the most – although it came from my Nikon D40 and not the brownie.

The brownie images came back from developing a couple of days ago and were surprisingly good for a very simple camera from the 1950′s – I need more practice in holding the thing steady though, a (roughly) 1/40 shutter speed makes life slightly blurry when you’re free-handing.

Hi Chris, it’s been too long since we spoke but i am impressed with your shots, you have moved forward, professional and moody in some shots, very good!
I still have my Nikon F5 which i’ll always keep.
